Pirates Call Up Rafael Flores

The Pittsburgh Pirates are calling up catcher/first baseman Rafael Flores. Meanwhile, infielder Liover Peguero has been optioned to AAA Indianapolis.
Flores was signed by the New York Yankees in July of 2022.
Last year was a breakout for Flores, as put together a .279/.379/.495 slash line, along with 21 home runs combined with High A Hudson Valley and AA Somerset.
Flores returned to Somerset for the beginning of the 2025 season, with a line of .287/.346/.496.
On July 19th, Flores received a promotion to AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
During the trade deadline, the Pirates sent David Bednar to the Yankees. Pittsburgh acquired three prospects, with Flores being the main headliner of the deal.
The 24-year-old Flores made a solid, impression for the Indianapolis Indians; slashing .281/.363/.459, while hitting six homers in 36 games.
MLB Pipeline currently has Flores ranked as the Pirates eighth best prospect.
